Bondalti announces takeover bid for 100% of Spanish company Ercros

In March 2024, Bondalti announced the launch of a takeover bid for 100% of Spanish company Ercros, through its subsidiary Bondalti Ibérica, based in Barcelona.

The offer, which was communicated to the CNMV, the Spanish securities market regulator, will be made entirely in cash.

Investment in decarbonization

RePower Chemical Industry is one of the highlights of the PRR, in component C11. This project will enable the integration of advanced technologies and renewable sources into energy consumption.

Another initiative is the H2Enable agenda, which aims to develop the green hydrogen value chain in Portugal and will involve an investment of over €140 million by 2026.

Biogas production

Bondalti Water has launched a new line of business, "Bondalti Biogás," dedicated to providing complete solutions for the production of this renewable energy source.

Bondalti draws on its more than 20 years of experience in the design and implementation of circular projects, using the best available technologies in the sector, such as reusing sewage sludge and processing it with other materials (waste) for recovery through the production of biogas or biomethane.

Corruption and Related Offenses Risk Prevention Plan

In the first quarter of 2024, Bondalti developed and implemented its Corruption and Related Offenses Risk Prevention Plan.

Subsequently, the National Anti-Corruption Mechanism published a guide with guidelines and explanatory notes on the methodological precautions necessary for the development, adoption, and implementation of this plan.

Operational reliability
above 95%

The two production sites, Estarreja and Torrelavega, achieved reliability rates above 95%, a competitive advantage that translates into meeting production targets, product delivery to customers, and the implementation of improvement projects. These results reinforce the positive trajectory of recent years, highlighting an activity free of serious industrial accidents and robustness and reliability in operations.

70 improvement and maintenance projects

The year 2024 was marked by record production in the Industrial Chemicals area, as well as 70 investments in technology, totalling around €30 million. These actions generated significant efficiency gains and contributed to reducing the environmental impact of operations.

Technological conversion at the Estarreja site

A pioneering project in Portugal and one of the first internationally, the modernization of the site Estarreja  encompasses renewable energy production, smart energy storage and management and operational optimization, to reduce the carbon footprint of the products produced at this industrial unit.

This conversion project, which is critical to the continuity and competitiveness of the business, has entered its implementation phase, culminating in the commissioning of five new electrolysers.

Supplier management and qualification

Supplier management, evaluation, and qualification play an essential role in the value chain, directly impacting product quality, operational sustainability, and responsiveness to market demands. Through effective supplier management, the company is able to guarantee not only the consistent supply of raw materials, but also ensure that quality standards and ethical practices are strictly adhered to.

This process contributes to risk mitigation, cost optimization, and increased reliability of business partners, creating a resilient and sustainable supply chain.
Supplier evaluation and qualification are critical steps that enable the industry to monitor and validate the performance of its suppliers over time.

This project aims to structure and standardize the evaluation and qualification of suppliers taking into account ESG criteria, allowing the company to have a broader and more integrated view of the risks, sustainability, and compliance of its business partners.

In 2024, we made significant progress in developing our sustainable procurement strategy by implementing a global engagement platform supplier that allows us to diagnose risks of various kinds, including environmental, social, and governance risks, characterizing our suppliers and working with them in an intelligent and collaborative manner to reduce these risks and improve performance at various levels. We have also developed supplier qualification and selection criteria that include various ESG metrics and aim to encourage our value chain to seek solutions and partnerships aligned with Bondalti's sustainable business objectives.
